Sustainability Label
A trust mark, quality mark or similar symbol that highlights or promotes a product, process or business based on its environmental or social characteristics.
Under the EmpCo Directive, from 27 September 2026 sustainability labels in the EU must be based on a certification scheme with independent monitoring, or be established by public authorities.
EcoAppraise context
Self-created badges, icons and logos that look like certification are high risk. EcoAppraise checks whether each label is backed by an independent scheme.
