DMCC Act

The UK Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024. Among other changes, it gives the Competition and Markets Authority power to decide directly that consumer law has been broken and to fine businesses up to 10% of global turnover, without first going to court. The CMA issued its first fines under these powers in 2026.

EcoAppraise context

Misleading environmental claims to UK consumers can now lead to direct CMA fines. This raises the stakes of the CMA Green Claims Code from guidance to enforceable risk.
