CMA Green Claims Code
Guidance published by the UK Competition and Markets Authority in 2021 explaining how consumer protection law applies to environmental claims. It sets out six principles: claims must be truthful and accurate, clear and unambiguous, must not omit or hide important information, must make fair and meaningful comparisons, must consider the full life cycle of the product or service, and must be substantiated.
EcoAppraise context
Since the DMCC Act gave the CMA direct fining powers, failing to follow the Green Claims Code carries a real financial risk in the UK. EcoAppraise maps UK claims against all six principles.
