McDonald's Accepts Judgment Banning Unexplained 'Climate Neutral by 2050' Claim in Germany

McDonald's acknowledged a Deutsche Umwelthilfe lawsuit over a website claim that it would be climate neutral by 2050, including its supply chain, without explaining how. The Munich Regional Court I issued an acknowledgment judgment (Az. 37 O 3945/26), so the claim may not be repeated without adequate substantiation.

Why it matters

Future net-zero or climate-neutral targets need a concrete, explained plan in German advertising; bare long-term pledges are being stopped in court.
