PPWR
The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, which applies from 12 August 2026 and replaces the previous packaging directive. It sets rules on packaging design for recycling, minimisation, substances, recycled content, reuse and labelling, with several requirements phasing in over later years.

Packaging claims such as recyclable, compostable or made from recycled content must be supported by evidence and should not conflict with the harmonised labels the PPWR introduces.
